The Business Intelligence Director (also known as - Director, Standard Analytics & Reporting) has a primary responsibility of leading data analytics and data warehousing, overseeing all activities and ensuring alignment with the business’s vision and objectives. They align and direct the management, development, and integration of data analytics and business intelligence necessary for supporting the mission, vision strategies, objectives, and goals of PDL and the local brands of ADUSA.

 

Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role  

  • Lead a team of BI reporting and visualization experts and professionals, serving all brands and multiple functions
  • Key role in change management from legacy (micro-strategy to PowerBI)
  • Expertise in both data visualization and reporting tools (eg. Cognos, Tableau, etc)
  • Key sponsors this role is to interface and square off with are marketing, Merchandising, Finance, Product
  • Orchestrates complex data and reporting environment to define and distill most relevant customer data reporting needs
  • Align and create organizational muscle to define most relevant KPIs and Metrics across a variety of business functions and user groups
  • Ability to toggle between business and technologies required to deliver on reporting and analytics requirements
  • Create business cases for technology investments and resources required to deliver reporting analytics outcomes including self-service reporting
  • Create standardization and rigor across team to apply to each team served in order to drive consistency and one version of the truth in reporting across the enterprise

 

The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients  

  • Bachelors degree in data science, economics, statistics, applied math or similar
  • 10 years experience in a data analytics or data warehousing department
  • 8 + years of experience in a leadership level role
     

Extra Spices - What you should bring to the table  

  • Masters degree/MBA preferred
  • Vast and successful experience in bringing together diverse functions and building teams that include data analytics and warehousing teams, guiding them through successful data analytic projects
  • Strong functional understanding of contemporary marketing, loyalty and digital analytics
  • An innovative vision on how the practice should evolve to keep pace with the ever changing business needs
  • A passion for effective data visualization to tell effective stories via data visuals
  • Understanding today’s digital customer and how business should adapt accordingly
  • Cross-functional leadership experience, specifically collaborations with IT
  • Success in the roll-out of new analytic capabilities including software and data
  • Experience with big data associated with customer and product level hierarchies and development of multi-level customer segmentations
  • Expertise in statistical software and languages (SAS, SQL, R, Python)
  • Technical experience with enterprise data warehouse solutions, statistical analysis tools, database systems, and data visualization applications
  • Skilled in the use of SQL, highly proficient in the workings of data technologies
  • Deep understanding of testing and key metric identification for driving and maintaining healthy business performance
  • Detail oriented, comfortable working in relationship building and fostering a collaborative setting
  • Ability to work with business senior executives
  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision, proactive
  • Creative, strategic, and independent thinker with superior problem-solving skills, advanced business acumen
  • Ability to work in a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to inspire and manage a team
